StorageRap videos now available for download on iTunes and Podbean

Blog readers have asked for podcast-ready versions of StorageRap videos that they can download and play on their iPods, iPhones, Blackberry's or other portable devices. So now there is a new StorageRap Podcast site on Podbean as well as a podcast feed for StorageRap on iTunes.

You'll notice a few differences:

• Videos are smaller, formatted for 320x 240 small screens
• Videos do not stream, they download completely and then play - so it takes longer to start playing
• The content does not mirror that on StorageRap
• Content on iTunes lags that on Podbean by a day or so 
• The video images in the podcast player are different than those on 3PARTV and this blog

The most recent podcast posted was the video from VMworld with Jason Lochhead from Terremark where he talks about their new VMWare-based vCloud Express service and their use of 3PAR storage for both vCloud Express and their Enterprise Cloud service.

3P's open rap to Data Domain Employees

3P got all excited this week when Joe Tucci from EMC made his public plea to Data Domain's employees in the San Jose Mercury News because he wanted to tell them something too.  He didn't have the budget to spend on a full page in the paper, but he has other ways to get his message across - like this Rap Blog.

The Board of Directors of Data Domain (NASDAQ:DDUP) today commented on the unsolicited offer it has received from EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Data Domain common stock for $30.00 per share in cash. Consistent with its fiduciary duties and in consultation with its financial and legal advisors, Data Domain’s Board is reviewing EMC’s offer. At this time, the Board is not making a recommendation with respect to the EMC offer. Data Domain requests that its stockholders defer making a determination whether to accept or reject EMC’s offer until Data Domain has communicated to stockholders its position regarding the tender offer from EMC. In accordance with Rule 14d-9 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, on or before June 16, 2009, Data Domain will communicate to stockholders its position regarding the tender offer from EMC. At this time, the Board is reaffirming the recommendation in favor of Data Domain’s merger with NetApp, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTAP) that is described in the Registration Statement on Form S-4 that NetApp has filed with the Securities Exchange Commission.

EMC insider interview is a fake

We received this video from an anonymous source and have determined it to be a forgery.  There is a very high probability that the person who is portrayed as an EMC insider is not an actual current employee of EMC.

3P releases smack up of Netapp

Readers know the name of this blog is StorageRap.  A couple weeks ago Netapp released a "viral video" that was a storage rap of sorts.  Problem was it really sucked and didn't do anything to raise the standards for storage rapping.  So, it became a high priority of this blog to respond and defend it's honor.

3P is 3PAR's storage rapper and in his first officially released rap titled "3P smacks up Netapp", he rages at Netapp for their lame attempt at storage rapping.   As the song says, we don't take no crap.

The remix of 3P smacks up Netapp can be streamed from 3P's MySpace page.
