Ultraspeed describes their hosting business as providing enterprise level solutions at mid-market prices. In this interview, Jordan Gross and Michael Shanks of Ultraspeed talk about how they do it; from running diskless, DC-powered servers, to implementing virtual systems with 3PAR virtual storage and operating data centers in London and Amsterdam.
Their technology and design look awesome, really shows they know their stuff. Reminds me of me :)

Hello. This video is very interesting. I think Ultraspeed is a IT service provider. I am also reading another blog (http://chucksblog.emc.com/chucks_blog/2010/02/10-cloud-secrets-for-it-service-providers.html) which has much doubt about service providers. But your video talks about enterprise service lasting 12 years already with success. What do you think?

External service providers are not the answer for every customer, but they are for some. The business of IT is incredibly complicated and the ability for customers to leverage their internal IT products and operations will determine whether or not they will look for solutions with external service providers.
There are some functions, such as Internet hosting, that in many cases are easier and far less expensive to do with an external service provider than to build from scratch internally.
One thing is certain: IT organizations, in general, are under pressure to become more efficient than they have been. They are not close to being equal in that regard.
