The news is here, here and here.
3PAR is introducing four powerful technologies today to help our customers crush their cost of owning and operating storage. Here is the rundown.
- Thin Conversion. Next time you are faced with a technology refresh, take advantage of Thin Conversion to convert your fat volumes on whatever storage you are using to thin volumes on 3PAR InServ arrays. You'll be glad you did.
- Thin Copy Reclamation. Extend the life of your storage by reclaiming capacity that had been used for snapshot and remote copy purposes. Try that with your EMC or HDS storage.
- Thin Reclamation for Veritas Storage Foundation. The ultimate recipe for efficient storage, requires both 3PAR InServ arrays and Veritas Storage Foundation. Automated reclamation of storage based on file system intelligence.
- Thin Persistence. Transient data (high-volatility create/delete activity) is not thin friendly. Thin persistence addresses the problem of transient data by identifying vacant blocks and returning them to unallocated storage.
Ooooh - Thin Persistence... how long have I been bugging you about that? That's fantastic news and a great step towards a Thin Forever Data Center :)
