Rich Miller at Data Center Knowledge posted this morning on how data center space is filling up.
This is another pressure point that will drive IT operations to cloud/utility service providers. As data center real estate becomes increasingly difficult to manage, why not turn that problem over to a cloud service provider that takes care of all those problems for you while also providing SLAs? Do you really want the headaches of playing resource tetris with multiple hosting sites because you can't get space in your current site(s)?
A cloud service that virtualizes all resources and guarantees service levels will look very attractive compared to hosting moves and migrations.
