Wide striping is one of the foundation technologies of 3PAR InServ storage arrays and is the key to achieving consistent performance in large scale mixed workload environments. This video describes how the internal storage granules of InServ arrays - called chunklets - are used and how data is laid out in chunklets in an InServ array.
The examples in this video use 20 disk drives, which is ridiculously low for a 3PAR system, but it makes it easier to discuss and illustrate. Viewers may want to keep in mind that in actual implementations there are hundreds of drives in a system instead of 20.
This video is almost 10 minutes long - much longer than most of the vids I make.
Nice video Marc. Found it very educational. Looking forward to more such 'stationary cam' videos :)
