Apparently Dell has tried to copyright the term "cloud computing" but has been turned down. Its not clear why the felt the desire to make intellectual property out of a term like cloud computing, but it doesn't seem very consistent with Dell's message of being a leader in "openness". Sort of like copyrighting Happy Birthday for the good of mankind.
